My COVID-19 Business Journey

Updated: Dec 11, 2020

Holidays, Crowns & Conferences

On April 6, 2020, the adjacent invitation went out to all employees. I knew the upcoming holiday was going to be challenging for many as they would be spending it apart from their family. I wanted them to know that the company looked at them like our family. To show them this I was going to bring a little joy to everyone and get them out of the house if for only a drive to the office for a lunch delivery. It was awesome to see their faces even if it was only a wave through the window. It was priceless as every single employee stopped by as Chris Trembly the Director of Operations at Preferred Trust Company and my family put a platter of sandwiches, chips, and a note of encouragement in everyone’s car trunk.

On April 10, 2020, the basketball tournament was over, and it was the ladies turn to have a bit of fun with the men in the office. As with the men in the office, the ladies had a great time planning the event for the men. I came up with the concept and the ladies were instrumental in refining it into the competition it became. Here is what the ladies in the office came up with:

"Here are a few helpful tips provided by the pageant consultants:

  • You may want to take a look at this video for day one preparation:

  • We thought we would help you out on day two by limiting the options and the risk of Worker’s Comp claims. You can however request a talent for submission and the pageant consultants will consider it within 24 hours.

  • Day three is all about the poise and brains. Good luck!

  • You may have noticed we did not go for a swimwear competition because we frankly were scared that Andrew (or Aurora) may show up in a speedo. So, come as you are (male or female) on day four just make sure we cannot see you prior to going on stage. This will be the lasting impression you leave on the judges prior to deliberations.

The judging will be strictly confidential, and results will not be announced until certified by Agar Bohley & Reese (These are the last names of the women in the accounting department)

On April 15, 2020, the American Association of Private Lenders – Think Realty “Voice of Reason” requested that I present to their audience about human interaction toll that COVID-19 is having on business. Listen to this link to learn more.
